Loved Bistrot d'Orsay! Four of for lunch. Started with olives and nice crusty bread then I had vegetarian gnocchi, husband had steak frites, while friends had barramundi and bouillabaisse. We had drinks (red wines and Proseccos) and coffees (flat whites, decaf long black and latte). A very cosy, warm and moody restaurant. Definitely book as not a lot of seating. Would go back.
This place is amazing. The food, service, and atmosphere are first class. The price was super reasonable. Highly recommend!
Dined here on the recommendation of a French colleague, this was for my 50th birthday and then later to see the Moulin Rouge at the theatre across the road. You also know a restaurant must be of exceptional standards when you see a celebrity Chef Matt Preston try to get a table at this busy French restaurant, sadly Matt was turned away as no booking. From the moment you are greeted at the door, this place oozes class and sophistication, you forget you are in Melbourne but like you are in the heart of Paris. The place is quaint, the staff are attentive and compliment the Parisian style bistro. The food and wine selection is to a very high standard and exactly on point. First time eating here and will definitely come back to Melbourne just to eat here. The pate and fresh bread was delicate and delicious, the French traditional dish bouillabaisse was nothing like I have had before and the coq au vin the chicken was cooked to perfection. The food was breathtaking and every dish took me to France. My husband enjoyed the prawns and scallops and lamb and both were delighted about our dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant when in Melbourne and especially if attending the Moulin Rouge, they ensured we had finished in time to go to the show.
As the regulars of Bistrot d'Orsay, we enjoy your bouillabaisse & Prime Goulburn Valley eye fillet the most. I only order your Prime Goulburn Valley eye fillet wherever we dine in here simply because I’m seriously addicted to your bordelaise sauce that goes with the eye fillet. And I promise that we won’t miss 23 JUN each year again for Max on his BDay.
Had a great night here with great goods, excellent service and nice ambiance.
I walked past the place many times and always smelt the soup came out of their kitchen.
When I mentioned it to my client who has a business nearby, he decided to take me here.
The foods were fantastic and the bouillabaisse was the highlight. 3 of us had it and we also ordered the eye fillet steak which was juicy and flavourful. Our entree calamari was super soft. Very well done.
The service by Simon and the rest of the staff were superb too. Very attentive, humorous, and friendly.
Will definitely come back in the future.
Dinner is always enjoyable at Bistrot d'Orsay. Max is an asset to this establishment, with his friendly and attentive nature. Confit duck is highly recommended. Gnocchi and creme brulee were also very good.
Wow what can I say? It was perfect from start to finish. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted immediately and brought to our table. The manager put us by the window as I mentioned it was my partner birthday, a very nice touch!
The menu options gave you the sense of being in France and not Melbourne, the food with authentic and of a very high quality and presentation. Our waiter was fantastic, always topping our glasses and offering drinks.
Our entrees came almost immediately and were of a large volume which was a pleasant surprise. I had the gnocchi and my partner the barramundi, both were excellent. If you want to experience French cuisine in Melbourne, this is the place to go.
This is the most delicious french food in Melbourne. 1000% french validated. Can't wait to come back. 🥰
